CIPS Framework Agreement and Academy

Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) “went the extra mile” to develop its workforce by establishing a permanent procurement training academy within the business. The academy, run by CIPS, will see more than 700 employees enrolled on professional qualification courses. The aim is to keep procurement staff up-to-date with the latest developments in the profession and ensure best practice is applied across ADNOC. The project involved conducting assessment tests and face-to-face interviews with buyers to discover training needs. The academy will provide lectures, online access to learning materials, and a library. It is the first time a company in the UAE has established a permanent training centre within its business. At the same time a Category Management Department has been set up to improve skills in this field.

Judges’ comments: 

The ADNOC procurement team went the extra mile to recognise the need to be at a world-class level. Employees will have a very good in-house opportunity to grow in the profession and develop necessary skills for their own benefit and the benefit of the organisation.
