Leader of the Year

Maha Bouzeid

Former VP of Sourcing, Ericsson Middle East and Africa

Maha Bouzeid worked at Ericsson Middle East and Africa for nine years and in 2017 was appointed VP head of sourcing. Maha then went on to spearhead a transformation project to convert sourcing from a transactional to a strategic function. At Ericsson, 60% of what the company sells requires sourcing, yet gaps in processes and a lack of integration led to value losses. By taking a proactive approach to strategic sourcing and aligning it with the procurement activities, Maha enabled the teams to negotiate better prices and deliver better solutions to customers, resulting in the highest saving percentages three years running. These achievements were partly due to Maha’s proactive nature and effective leadership skills, which gained renown both within the company and with customers. Not only was she made Ericsson MEA’s driver of leadership in 2019, but was also the only head of sourcing to reach top leadership level. Today, sourcing is the only market area reporting directly to the MEA President. After nine years at Ericsson Maha has recently left this role.
