Managing and Celebrating the Diverse Culture of Jumeirah
Jumeirah Group devised an inclusive approach to celebrate different cultures in the workplace. The supply chain department reviewed existing hiring policies and broadened past work experience requirements to allow influx of talent from diverse backgrounds. It also adopted measures to manage its talent from diverse backgrounds, and to support Emirati colleagues in their personal and professional development journeys within the company. Currently, 30% of the department are women, with the same percentage currently holding management roles. Emirati talent makes up 12% of the workforce that have been developed and retained over the years, of which three-quarters (75%) hold management positions. Over 30% of the talent has been hired from diverse past backgrounds and developed through procurement certification programs supported by Jumeirah. As a result of efforts, organisational benefits realised by Jumeirah Group included 100% employee retention achieved in 2019 and improved customer satisfaction driven by competency enhancement and a culture of respect carried by the diversity of Jumeirah.
The group is demonstrating its focus on team diversity, employees development and workforce morale. Good initiatives are demonstrated including Emiratisation Programmes, internal talent development and workforce diversification. Reflects right from top management the focus on diversity and is also shown in procurement structure.
