Saeed Khalfan Al Zaabi

Acting Chief Support Services Officer, Abu Dhabi Airports Company

 

In his role as the Acting Chief Support Services Officer for Abu Dhabi Airports Company, Saeed Al Zaabi has a broad executive remit covering strategic support services and business development across the Company’s five airports: ADIA, ABEA, AAIA, SBY and Delma. As a member of the ADAC Executive Committee, he holds accountability for developing the strategic matters affecting the business of the Group, and for the delivery activities of the Company’s largest and most complex projects.
Mr. Al Zaabi also sits on the board of the Tenders and Variations Committee, the HR Committee (REMCO) and the Investment Committee, the strategic and management vehicles playing a critical role in the success of the business.
Before the current role, he held the position of the Senior Vice President of Procurement & Logistics at ADAC having established the Procurement and Contract strategy for ADAC Group in line with the business objectives. He demonstrated the value of Procurement for the business and managed to elevate its positioning to report directly to the CEO. As a result, he became a key member in all major decision making committees established within the governance framework structure.
Under his leadership, the ADAC Procurement Department was transformed by the introduction of automated processes that resulted in achieving compliance with policies and procedures, fair competition and dealing, confidentiality, system integrity, control, visibility and transparency. He built a procurement team that is empowered and highly knowledgeable, and who achieved the Best Procurement Team of the Year in the Middle East CIPS 2016 award.
He was previously the Assistant Vice President (Commercial) /Procurement & Logistics Manager at Emirates Steel Industries of Abu Dhabi with responsibility for planning, directing and supervising the Contract and Procurement activities and overseeing the Materials Management System and Procedures. This overlapped with planning of the manpower for the Division ensuring the implementation of the Emiratisation policy, the supervision and identification of training needs and the establishment of job targets for all the jobs.
Earlier in his career he worked in ADGAS as a Senior Contracts Engineer providing contract services for end users such as Engineering, Projects, and others involved in the LNG Process Plant on DAS Island for different types of contracts such as: FEED, EPC, and PMC.
Mr. Al Zaabi is a highly qualified Procurement & Logistics Professional, MCIPS certified, with engineering background, an MBA from the University of Strathclyde and more than 24 years’ of experience gained in all aspects of Procurement and Supply. He is also the Chartered Institute for Procurement & Supply (CIPS) Professional of the Year in the Middle East in 2017 award winner.
